The roaster

A closer look.

Dayglow treats coffee as a field of discovery, pairing its own roasting program with a rotating edit of international roasters. The business began in Silver Lake on New Year’s Day 2018, initially serving coffees it admired; in 2022, it added a Massachusetts roastery focused on single-origin microlots. Its house menu organizes coffees by dominant flavor profiles—Decadent, Juicy, Sweet, Creamy, Balanced, Floral, Winey, Vibrant, Exotic, and Rare—an intuitive structure that puts sensory character ahead of technical shorthand. The same curatorial instinct shapes its subscriptions: light-to-medium coffees span familiar and experimental expressions, with guest selections drawn mostly from international roasters and separate offerings dedicated to Dayglow’s own single origins. Cafes extend that approach beyond retail shelves, serving coffees selected for online release. What began as one Los Angeles cafe now operates across several U.S. cities, but the core idea remains compact: make unusual coffees easier to navigate without flattening their origin or individuality.
