The roaster

A closer look.

Crema treats coffee as a chain of relationships, then builds its work around honoring each link. The Nashville roaster buys through producers and trusted import partners, prioritizing quality and compensation above Fair Trade benchmarks rather than leaning on certification. At its East Nashville production facility, coffee is roasted to order in small batches; the roasting team tastes every batch for quality control under the guidance of a licensed Q Grader. Sustainability shapes the operation as much as sourcing does. Crema diverts more than 90 percent of its waste from landfills through composting and recycling, qualifying its cafes and roastery as zero-waste operations. Hospitality carries an educational edge: its downtown flagship houses a dedicated lab for public coffee classes, while its cafes aim for welcoming, human-scale service. The result is a roaster with a clear point of view—careful buying, deliberate roasting, practical environmental work, and coffee knowledge shared without ceremony.
